Dr Judit Kerekes is a chair of Mathematics Discipline, and professor of mathematics education at City University of New York, College of Staten Island, Education Department.
She has taught university and high school level Mathematics, Physics and Pedagogy for 40-plus years. Kerekes frequently presents at local, national and international conferences across, USA, Canada, Africa and Europe and has earned the international Collaboration for America and Hungary, Bólyai Award. In addition to co-authoring two books, Dr. Kerekes’ publications include many research articles. Her research interest is improving elementary mathematics education in New York City schools through collaborative analysis of student hypothetical and real learning trajectory. A dedicated teacher-mentor, Kerekes has been a leader in challenging pre-service and in-service teachers’ attitudes in using digital and physical manipulatives, technology to develop mathematical understanding, and cultivating young mathematicians.
